@PapillonOnFront Review

Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed the Easter long weekend!

I recently purchased a Dinner voucher for 2 from buytopia, for date night with the fiancé.

Le Papillon on Front opened in 1974 as one of Toronto’s first crêperie.  Now a casual French dining restaurant, Le Papillon is located in an Old Town Toronto building that perfectly complements the French brasserie atmosphere.

What we ate:

Salad

Large mixed greens with balsamic vinaigrette, sprinkled with goat cheese to share.

The salad was great, anything with goat cheese makes me happy 🙂

Soup

20140421-022414.jpg French Onion Soup.

I was surprised by how tasty the soup was. I’m not a fan of onions so I’ve always steered clear of French onion because I thought it would taste nasty, but boy was I wrong.

Main

I had the Duck confit: served with orange Grand Marnier sauce and the potatoes and veggies du jour. This was my first time eating duck and it was delicious!

The fiancé had the Boeuf Bourguignon served with potatoes and vegetables. He really enjoyed the flavour and tenderness of the beef.

Dessert

I had the Pouding Chomeur: rich golden cake with hot caramel sauce served with Vanilla ice cream & the fiancé had the Fruit Sorbet. I absolutely loved my dessert!

It was our first time going to Le Papillon on front. We went on a Thursday night, and it wasn’t busy. When we entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted and seated right away. The exposed brick and candlelight, gave the restaurant an intimate and romantic atmosphere. This was also our first time at a French restaurant and our waitress was really helpful and gave great suggestion. She was very attentive and friendly. The overall service was excellent! Two thumbs up. I would definitely go back! The only downside was the fixed menu which limited the food choice.
