Sensual or Sexual?

I came across this picture and wanted to share. There was an uproar about this picture and how it sexualizes breastfeeding. Take a look↓

ELLE of GirlieGirlArmy founder Chloe Jo Davis breastfeeding her one-year-old son.

OK so The photo shoot was about women who are changing the rules and Chloe Jo Davis is talking about vegan fashion. Not feeding.

It’s a Beautiful photo don’t get me wrong, but is it suggestive with the other breast showing under her lace top? Or is it trying to break a stigma?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

  1. I get the concept they were going for too, with the nudity. She said that she felt most beautiful “not wearing the fur and skins of other animals”. i hear that – and certainly this idea equals in the minds of advertisers that it means wearing nothing at all. Think of all the PETA ads featuring naked celebrities saying, “I’d rather go naked than wear fur”. It’s been done. And that’s simply taking about the nudity aspect and why they thought it was appropriate. The fact she’s breastfeeding? Big deal, i say. Come on, we are exposed to enormous amounts of sexualized images of woman every day. This is the least offensive breast I’ve been exposed to in a long time. :)

  2. Why can’t breastfeeding be sexy? Why must mothers be viewed as “non-sexual” or have to “reclaim” their sexuality? Women should never have to choose between being sexy and being anything else. We are complex beings.

  3. This picture is both sensual and sexual. Its why it makes a lot of sense to me as to why it’s so controversial. Sensual because the a woman breast feeding a baby is a beaitiful thing, but she could have done without the black lace. A woman in black lace is a woman who is naughty…if this picture was taken with her in a pink fluff robe no one would have a problem
